Community Helpers — printable activity pack

The first grown-ups a child can name by their job — the doctor, the bus driver, the one who comes when the smoke alarm goes off. Community helpers is a staple US elementary unit, and the word search, the scramble and the crossword here all run on its own vocabulary: three and four letters at ages 3–5, eight to eleven at ages 9–12.

Four levels of the same theme — ages 3–5, 6–8, 9–12 and a harder grown-up level — so a mixed-age class or family works on the same puzzles, each at their own level. 11 pages, US Letter PDF, ready to print at home or in a classroom.

One-time payment of US$4 plus any applicable tax. UK & EU/EEA consumers: 14-day right to cancel · Refund & cancellation policy

Pay as a guest — no account needed. You get the Community Helpers pack at the level you pick, as a PDF, straight after checkout, and you can print it as often as you like for your own family or class.

Three pages from this pack

Word search from the Community Helpers pack for ages 6–8: a square grid of capital letters, with the six words to find printed underneath — doctor, nurse, farmer, teacher, police, baker.Word scramble from the Community Helpers pack for ages 6–8: six words set out letter by letter with the letters shuffled — doctor, nurse, farmer, teacher, police, baker — each with a ruled line beside it to write the answer on, under a hint line saying every word is about Community Helpers.Trace-and-write page from the Community Helpers pack for ages 6–8: five ruled lines with a dotted guide through the middle of each, every line printing its word twice in pale gray to trace over — doctor, nurse, farmer, teacher, police.

Rendered from the Community Helpers PDF itself, at ages 6–8. The puzzles are generated, so your copy’s grids and maze won’t be these exact ones.

The jobs a six-year-old can already name

Ages 6–8 is the level for a first- or second-grade table: DOCTOR, NURSE, FARMER, TEACHER, POLICE and BAKER, one grid that doubles as a spelling list. The oldest level is where it gets useful — FIREFIGHTER, PARAMEDIC, LIBRARIAN, MECHANIC, ELECTRICIAN and VETERINARY run eight to eleven letters, long enough to interlock properly. Two honest notes: the cover and the coloring page draw a plain house rather than a fire truck, and at ages 3–5 the crossword takes only COP, FIRE and HELP, while VET, BUS and MAP wait in the word search.

The words your child will be hunting for

These are the words each level’s puzzles are built from: the word search grid is filled with them and prints them under it as the list to find, the scramble jumbles up to seven of them one per line, and the crossword interlocks as many as will fit. Same theme at every level, different words — that’s what makes a mixed-age table work.
