Arctic Animals — printable activity pack

Mid-January, when being outside has stopped being fun: eleven pages about animals that live somewhere it is always like this. One honest thing before you print — the cover drawing and the page-sized coloring sheet are a fish, so the polar bear in this pack stays a word rather than a picture. The puzzles are where the Arctic is.

Four levels of the same theme — ages 3–5, 6–8, 9–12 and a harder grown-up level — so a mixed-age class or family works on the same puzzles, each at their own level. 11 pages, US Letter PDF, ready to print at home or in a classroom.

One-time payment of US$4 plus any applicable tax. UK & EU/EEA consumers: 14-day right to cancel · Refund & cancellation policy

Pay as a guest — no account needed. You get the Arctic Animals pack at the level you pick, as a PDF, straight after checkout, and you can print it as often as you like for your own family or class.

Three pages from this pack

Word search from the Arctic Animals pack for ages 6–8: a square grid of capital letters, with the six words to find printed underneath — puffin, walrus, husky, reindeer, tundra, narwhal.Mini crossword from the Arctic Animals pack for ages 6–8: an empty criss-cross grid of numbered squares, with the ages 6–8 word list printed underneath as the clue list — all six of them: puffin, walrus, husky, reindeer, tundra, narwhal.Maze from the Arctic Animals pack for ages 6–8: one large square maze filling the page, START above its top-left corner and FINISH below its bottom-right, both printed in this pack's teal, with week 3 and the pack name across the top.

Rendered from the Arctic Animals PDF itself, at ages 6–8. The puzzles are generated, so your copy’s grids and maze won’t be these exact ones.

Puffins, not penguins

Penguins live only in the far south, so this pack doesn’t teach them. At ages 6–8 the list is PUFFIN, WALRUS, HUSKY, REINDEER, TUNDRA and NARWHAL — the puffin being the Arctic seabird a penguin gets mistaken for. The oldest level turns into cold-climate biology: POLARBEAR, MIGRATION, BLUBBER, HABITAT, SNOWYOWL and CARIBOU. Two of those print as single words, POLARBEAR and SNOWYOWL, which a nine-year-old spots before you do. At ages 3–5 the crossword interlocks four of the six; ICE and FISH wait in the word search.

The words your child will be hunting for

These are the words each level’s puzzles are built from: the word search grid is filled with them and prints them under it as the list to find, the scramble jumbles up to seven of them one per line, and the crossword interlocks as many as will fit. Same theme at every level, different words — that’s what makes a mixed-age table work.
