Pirate Adventure — printable activity pack

For the child who has recently become a pirate. Treasure maps, ships and the seven seas, spread over eleven pages that travel unusually well — the maze, the dot-to-dot and the scramble need nothing but a pencil, which makes this a sensible thing to have printed before a long drive or a party.

Four levels of the same theme — ages 3–5, 6–8, 9–12 and a harder grown-up level — so a mixed-age class or family works on the same puzzles, each at their own level. 11 pages, US Letter PDF, ready to print at home or in a classroom.

One-time payment of US$4 plus any applicable tax. UK & EU/EEA consumers: 14-day right to cancel · Refund & cancellation policy

Pay as a guest — no account needed. You get the Pirate Adventure pack at the level you pick, as a PDF, straight after checkout, and you can print it as often as you like for your own family or class.

Three pages from this pack

Cover of the Pirate Adventure pack for ages 6–8: the pack title, a level badge reading Ages 6–8, a line-drawn sailing boat with one mast, a triangular sail and a ruled line of water beneath it, and the list of what is inside.Maze from the Pirate Adventure pack for ages 6–8: one large square maze filling the page, START above its top-left corner and FINISH below its bottom-right, both printed in this pack's red, with week 17 and the pack name across the top.Dot-to-dot page from the Pirate Adventure pack: seven numbered dots on an otherwise empty page, joining up into a sailing boat — the hull first, then up the mast to the tip of the sail.

Rendered from the Pirate Adventure PDF itself, at ages 6–8. The puzzles are generated, so your copy’s grids and maze won’t be these exact ones.

Eleven pages that survive a car

The maze, the dot-to-dot and the scramble ask for a pencil and no flat surface worth speaking of, and not one of them has an answer a parent has to adjudicate from the front seat. That is most of the case for this pack. GALLEON, BUCCANEER and PLUNDER give the oldest level some proper weight — reading-a-pirate-novel words rather than costume words. Set expectations on the artwork, though: the boat is a plain single-sail dinghy, not a skull-and-crossbones galleon, which suits the youngest and disappoints the occasional ten-year-old.

The answer key solves the sudoku, the word search, the word scramble and the crossword. The maze doesn’t have an answer — a maze doesn’t need one.

The words your child will be hunting for

These are the words each level’s puzzles are built from: the word search grid is filled with them and prints them under it as the list to find, the scramble jumbles up to seven of them one per line, and the crossword interlocks as many as will fit. Same theme at every level, different words — that’s what makes a mixed-age table work.

Ages 3–5

MAP · SHIP · GOLD · SEA · HAT · DIG
Ages 6–8

The grown-up level isn’t written separately: it’s the longest words from the 6–8 and 9–12 lists, on a bigger grid and a harder sudoku.
